#FM Trends: Prez Thinks The New Weeknd Album is a Classic

Sound The Alarm, New Weeknd Album is a Classic!

I believe myself to be a reasonable guy. So I don’t think it is unreasonable to think After Hours by The Weeknd is a classic. This is coming from me as I was once critical of the Weeknd last effort Starboy (2016). The slander within me was so strong that I would pit other artists such as Tory Lanez and Bryson Tiller against him. I am here to apologize to him, the other R&B guys do not want it. In the future, we will tell our kids about the time The Weeknd gave us a classic during a global pandemic.

Album Details…

First, the album After Hours is his first project to have no other featured artists. Heartless and Blinding Lights were released in late November 2019. On February 13, 2020, he revealed the title of the project with a video teaser. The project’s art work and tone is inspired by films such as the Joker, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Casino and Uncut Gems( the Weeknd makes a cameo appearance). Producers on After Hours include: Metro Boomin, DaHeala, Max Martin amongst others.

What I Enjoyed About After Hours?

The Weeknd tweeted no more daytime music in January 2019. This album is very dark and moody and I love it for that. It took me a long time to get past the intro “Alone Again”. This is perfect album to play with mixed company, indulge in vices or late night drives in the summer after bad decisions. The Weeknd learned from his missteps from Starboy, but took the positive qualities from it. He would also combine that with his earlier works and gave us this masterpiece.
