Q-Tip Debuts “Want U 2 Want” Featuring Kendrick Lamar

Last Friday night on his Beats 1 show Abstract Radio, Q-Tip debuted an unreleased track titled “Want U 2 Want” featuring Kendrick Lamar. The song is a soulful collaboration between two of hip-hop’s most respected figures. It comes highly anticipated as the artists were announced to be working together in 2013. For the majority of the track, Kendrick provides smooth poetic vocals that express a strong desire for a particular person or thing. Toward the end of the song, we hear Q-Tip make a subtle but rhythmic entrance that adds to the flavor of the track.

Throughout the song, you hear a vibrant beat that certainly reflects a sound you would expect from A Tribe Called Quest.There’s a head-bopping jazzy element to the song that gives off a 90’s vibe. The debut of this track came within 24 hours of the release of Black Panther: The Album curated by Kendrick Lamar. It also comes in anticipation of Q-Tip’s solo album The Last Zulu.
