#ArtistSpotlight: Off-White – The Man Behind the Brand, Virgil Abloh
Off-White’s mystique and alluring luxury designs can make anyone look exclusive and trendy. The man behind the brand is just as exciting as his heartfelt and sought after pieces. Multi-talented, Virgil Abloh, is a force to be reckoned with.
Virgil Abloh grew up skate boarding, listening to HipHop, and sending in his sneaker sketches to Nike. Abloh graduated college with a degree in architecture. Soon after, he met Don C, who was Kanye West’s manager at the time. The skills Virgil crafted in abstract ideas and printing t-shirts led to a meeting with Ye. As a result, the two soon became collaborators.
Along with being an innovator, Virgil soon found himself as a personal creative director for West, co-designing classic album cover, 808’s & Heartbreak and contributing to the artistic vision on My Dark and Twisted Fantasy.

Currently trailblazing as the creator of Off-white, Virgil is also the artistic director of mens fashion at Louis Vuitton. Recently, Virgil expanded his cultural influence and audience by designing a limited edition collection of everyday furniture and household products at furniture power-house, IKEA.
Abloh’s unstoppable creative force doesn’t stop with fashion and designing, it also includes a passion for music. While running a fashion house, Abloh still finds time to DJ at clubs and festivals all over the world and lets his hair down while letting the music take over.
Virgil’s presence is essential to black and hip-hop culture. Not only does this architect create cultural moments, he invests into the culture. He has without a doubt changed the taste level for the younger generation as he creates hands-on career opportunities with his brand. Young black and brown kids will look at his legacy the way America looks at Ralph Lauren.
