Tyrod Taylor, Chargers Quarterback, suffers an accidental lung puncture by the team’s doctor before Sunday’s matchup versus the Kansas City Cheifs.

A team doctor for the Los Angeles Chargers attempted to give Tyrod a pain-killing injection for his cracked ribs according to ESPN.  The injection accidentally punctured his lungs.  According to the Chargers, Tyrod was taken to the hospital due to experiencing difficulty breathing. He was later released from the hospital.

On Sunday, Taylor was unexpectedly ruled out of week 2’s game against the Kansas City Cheifs. Rookie Justin Herbert filled in for Taylor as the Cheifs defeated them 23-20.

“There was a complication with the shot. No one is perfect. It happens. The doctor, I know, is a good man. It was unfortunate.”, said  Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn at a news conference Wednesday.

On Wednesday, The NFL Players Association announced that the incident is now under investigation.

The Chargers are scheduled to play The Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Tyrod Taylor is not expected to play.
