NFL Star Richard Sherman arrested

NFL Star Richard Sherman was taken into custody on Wednesday for a charge of burglary domestic violence. Police in Redmond, Washington, arrested the former Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers star after allegedly breaking into a family member’s home and fighting with cops.

Sherman was heavily intoxicated, according to the leaked 911 audio tape obtained by ESPN. In addition, Sherman was apparently hostile, had a fight with his uncle, and sent suicidal text messages to several people.

The anonymous caller also stated that the former Pro Bowl cornerback had consumed two bottles of liquor.
The caller pleaded with the authorities not to shoot Sherman, claiming that he had threatened to attack when they came. Sherman faces charges of crashing his SUV and then attempting to break into his in-laws’ house. Sherman battled with policemen who arrived on the scene, forcing officers to employ a police dog to apprehend him.

The NFL Star remains behind bars

The NFL Star remains behind bars and awaits bail, which is standard procedure in Washington for defendants in domestic violence cases.  Sherman will go before a judge on Thursday to assess whether there was probable cause for his detention and to set bond.

“At this time we’re going to make no statements, except he didn’t harm anybody,” Sherman’s wife Ashley told the Seattle Times.

Sherman spent his first seven seasons in Seattle, where he helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2014. He played his third and last season with the 49ers last year and is now a free agent.
