Ghostface Killah and Sony Music Entertainment and Certified are releasing a stream of never-before-heard edits to his debut album Ironman. Ghostface released this album on Oct. 29, 1996! That’s right, there have been 25 years since its release. What better way to commemorate the success of the album than with an expanded digital edition?
The album will arrive as a collectible 12″ vinyl anniversary pressing and an expended digital edition that offers remixes, radio edits, and instrumentals previously unavailable on digital streaming platforms.
Ghostface Killah will also talk exclusively about Ironman and its impact in a new video. He will also appear in an episode of Certified’s mini-documentary series My Life in 60 Seconds.
Wu-Tang Clan Forever
Wu-Tang Clan hit the hip hop scene in 1992 in Staten Island, New York City. Notably, the most revolutionary rap group of the ’90s, the Wu-Tang Clan, has defied the industry’s odds. Uniquely, the Clan began as a nine MC group. They imprinted their name in history by completely take over the hip hop scene by releasing a joint project and several individual projects after that. The group became a community in hip hop.
Ghostface Killah and his solo career
In February 1996, Ghostface Killah’s first solo track, “Winter Warz,” appeared on the Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While You’re Drinking Your Juice in the Hood soundtrack. That October, he released his solo debut, ’70s soul-flavored Ironman; the record was the first released on RZA’s new Epic subsidiary, Razor Sharp Records.
Although the members landed several solo contracts, they have shown they are a brotherhood. Keeping up with hip hops gems has been an experience as they link up for reunion tours. Ghostface Killah, GZA, and Raekwon are currently gearing up for The 3 Chambers Tour. The trio will perform tracks from their classic solo albums, Liquid Swords, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Ironman.
The 25th-anniversary edition is to drop on Oct. 29. Yes, please!
