Emily Ratajkowski Accuses Robin Thicke of Sexual Assault

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski is accusing Robin Thicke of groping her in her book My Body, set to be released next month. The groping took place during the shooting of the Blurred Lines music video, released March 20, 2013.  Blurred Lines was a music video parodying the misogynistic lyrics, where the women take charge and overpower the men. It had an all-female team working on it.

Blurred Lines was co-written by Thicke and Pharrell Williams. The song has had a multitude of problems. Williams has later admitted to being embarrassed by the lyrics. He had not realized that some of the lyrics are the same words used by rapists to try to justify their actions. He thought the song was about a good girl that also wanted to have some fun.

Thicke has joked about the degrading message of the song. “What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women.”  He figured that, due to them all being married at the time of recording, they were allowed to make fun of everything taboo. Thicke said that it was in hopes of people finding that such taboos are ridiculous.

Ratajkowski’s Allegations of Thicke

Ratajkowski writes the following in her book.

“Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke.”

Thicke was drinking before the shooting had begun.

Diane Martel, the music video’s director, confirmed the incident to the Sunday Times. “I remember the moment that he grabbed her breasts, one in each hand. He was standing behind her as they were both in profile. I screamed in my very aggressive Brooklyn voice, ‘What the f–k are you doing, that’s it! The shoot is over!'”

However, Ratajkowski said that they could continue on. Martel has also said that Thicke had later apologized.

Thicke has not responded to the allegations yet.
