#CherryJuice: George Zimmerman Shooter Charged With Attempted Murder

Published

on

Matthew Apperson, the man who shot at George Zimmerman’s vehicle while they were driving down a road on Lake Mary Boulevard last month has been charged with attempted murder.

The two men have had an ongoing dispute with one another, since a road-rage incident that happened last September. Apperson said Zimmerman threatened to kill him, asking “Do you know who I am?” during a confrontation in their vehicles. Zimmerman said he called Apperson a clown, and Apperson fired a gun at his car. The bullet missed  Zimmerman’s head, shattering a window and sending pieces of glass all over him.

“My reaction to these charges is a pronounced shrug,” Apperson’s attorney, Michael LaFay, told CNN. “I’ve reviewed the charges and they don’t change the facts. The prosecutors have put their heads together and tried to contemplate what could be the most serious charges, but that doesn’t really change anything. This is a case of self-defense.”

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Apperson also faces charges for aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle. If convicted, he must serve a minimum-mandatory sentence of 20 years in prison.
