YG’s New Video Dropped for Song “How to Rob A Rapper”
West Coast Rapper “YG,” recently dropped a new music video for “How to Rob A Rapper.” Details of how to rob a rapper step by step and the recent tragedy of late rapper “PnB Rock,” were discussed in the video.
How to Rob a Rapper
YG is known for his gangster demeanor and creative direction when it comes to rapping and directing videos. He is one of the few rappers that still stick to the original style of gangster rap. In the video “HTRAR,” he and his fellow co-rappers rap in a gangly manner as they describe the rules of robbing someone like them. Examples on how to properly execute the activity are given. From start to finish from the appr0ach to the fleeing of the scene are described. The video gives a nostalgic look due to it being formatted in black and white.
The Late PnB Rock
In the video, YG alluded to deceased Rapper PnB Rock being robbed and gunned down 3 weeks prior. The incident took place in Los Angeles at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. The rapper’s girlfriend had apparently disclosed their location via Instagram moment’s prior. The rapper’s jewelry was taken by the robbers and have yet to be brought in custody by the authorities. YG and rapper Mozzy made it clear that a rapper showing their items and location to the public is a foolish mistake. The incident was another instance of typical behavior when not paying attention to one’s actions.
Stay Safe
YG is known for staying the opposite of safe hence his third studio album “Stay Dangerous.” However, his song and video is not solely promoting how to rob but to be safe from being robbed. He gave signs on what to look for when preventing the possibility of being robbed and or killed. His experiences and observances from how he grew up in Compton, CA shows his street smarts for danger when being successful and/or a known gang member.
