USWNT Wins The World Cup Final
With over 53,000 people in attendance – it was no question that last night’s FIFA World Cup Final was a match to see. After losing to Japan back in 2011 – the USA Women’s National Team finally got their comeback in what was considered a showdown. In the first 17 minutes of the first half – USWNT was winning with 4 goals (Yes, FOUR!)
One of the biggest highlights of the game was the flawless hat-trick (3 goals from one player in a half) by New Jersey native Carli Lloyd. It was the first hat trick in a Women’s World Cup Final history – her hard work has paid off.
“It’s been a long journey, my career. I’ve had a lot of people believe in me, in my corner, from day one,” said the 32-year-old midfielder. “I’ve dedicated my whole life to this. Everything else comes second. But I wouldn’t want to do it any other way.”
This was the first World Cup championship for USA since 1999. And with a sold-out stadium and nearly double the number of a TV audience – the U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team has proven to be all-around victorious.
Your efforts, dedication and hunger to win have come along ladies. Congratulations to the red, white and blue – Team USA!
