Cordae and Roddy Rich on new single "Gifted"

After a successful year, 2019 XXL Freshmen, Cordae, and Roddy Ricch salute their accomplishments with new single “Gifted.” Cordae hit the stage at the 2020 Grammy Awards with two major nominations: Best Rap Album for his debut album The Lost Boy and Best Rap Song for “Bad Idea” featuring Chance the Rapper. Meanwhile, Roddy Ricch has dominated the charts internationally with hit song “The Box” from his debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.

Cordae continues to pave his way in the rap game by using his platform to support the Black Lives Matter movement. He actively stands in solidarity with the revolution by protesting Breonna Taylor’s death. The “Gifted” visual received special treatment from director, Cole Bennett. The final seconds of the new video included an inspirational quote from political activist Huey P. Newton. The video concludes with a demand to defund the police and Justice for Breonna Taylor, Jacob Blake, George Floyd, and Elijah McClain.

This is the first project Cordae released since he recently dropped the YBN before his name. YBN Nahmir spoke on the group’s alleged split by tweeting, “They left this YBN shit in the gutter. Remember that. I’ll turn it up myself.”

Cordae celebrates new beginnings and another year of life by gifting his fan base. “I really do what I love for a living and I’ll never take it for granted. History in the Making…. Oh and ima drop a song tomorrow. My gift to y’all #Gifted.”
