Ty Brasel‘s Destiny: Vol.1 carries a powerful message that’s bound to inspire the masses. The 13-track effort finds the rapper speaking about putting God at the forefront of his career and life obstacles. As a result, he is enjoying the fruits of his labor. Not only has he become successful, but he’s also gained a happier lifestyle. From a lyrical standpoint, Brasel speaks about fighting demons, giving his worries to Him, working hard, and counting his many blessings. Songs like “On Me” and “Shine” detail moments when he had to look for the silver lining. On “Shine,” he raps,
“I feel so alive now, broke out the cage/I broke through the clouds/Let it marinade, remember the drought/This Devil’s game, could’ve taken my life away.”
Given the context, listeners can attest that Brasel reflects on prior instances that could’ve made or broken him. But, instead of going through these hurdles alone, he gave it to Him. Another song off Destiny: Vol. 1 titled “Right My Wrongs (feat. Jay-Way)” depicts a dark time he once faced.
“Demons, look they get to creeping/I been in the deep end,” he raps. “I got trouble sleeping/I’m just stuck inside a daze/I got too much on my brain.”
Sonically, the album takes admiration from trap. This genre takes different tones on Destiny: Vol.1. On one account, it can be upbeat and bright, but on the other, it can be dark and combative. A track on the said project even fuses video game elements and a heavy bassline. Additionally, Brasel spits over some R&B instrumentals that follow the same pattern.
Since releasing the project, Ty has amassed more than 1.28 million DSP streams with coverage spanning Spotify’s New Music Friday + The Flow playlists. In closing,
“Destiny: Vol. 1 is an action-packed journey full of pain and purpose that takes a look into the personal experiences of following the plans of the divine.”
