Kanye West’s Donda Stem Player — a device allowing users to customize various components of a song to create their unique listening experience — has finally shipped to those who bought one after an initial drop. With the Stem Player, users can manage vocals, percussion, bass, and samples, isolate specific elements of a song, and even add effects. It also has a headphone jack, volume controls, speakers, 8GB of storage, as well as Bluetooth capabilities. Furthermore, the stem player includes three additional unreleased songs by Kanye that were not on the initial cut of “Donda.”
Three Unreleased Songs from Mr. West
The first new track is an edited version of Andre 3000’s “Life Of The Party.”. For those who don’t recall, “Life of The Party” became central to Kanye’s feud with Drake in September, after Drake leaked the track on his OVO late-night radio show. “It’s unfortunate that it was released in this way and two artists that I love are going back and forth.”, Andre wrote in a statement on the song’s illicit leak.
The official version of “Up From The Ashes” and a final and complete version of “Never Abandon Your Family” also appear on the Stem Player. “Up From the Ashes” is a throwaway track from West’s album Jesus Is King, while “Never Abandon Your Family” played at Kanye’s first “Donda” listening session in Atlanta back in July but didn’t make the final cut. Additionally, Kid Cudi’s appearance on the Young Thug-assisted “Remote Control” is back once again on the Stem Player. It’s unknown whether these new Donda songs will be coming to streaming platforms, or will remain exclusive to stem players.
The Donda stem player is available through Kanye West’s official website for $200.
