Kodak Black spent most of Saturday giving back to his community

Florida rapper Kodak Black returned to his old neighborhood in Pompano Beach on Saturday, July 3 to donate air conditioners to residents of the Golden Acres projects. He donated 100 air conditioners and spent most of the day giving back to his hometown. He went door-to-door with the units, handing off the refreshing and cooling gifts to the residents. In a video uploaded to TMZ, Kodak is seen standing in a loading truck handing out the units to locals.

“We out here passing out AC units, helping install them,” Kodak says in the video. “We do it for the projects, we do it for the projects. The people relying on just enough cash to survive. We’ll get you all ACs man, we out here.”

Kodak Black donated over $12,500 in AC units with the help of community activist/homeless advocate Francky Pierre-Paul. Pierre-Paul, who is the founder/CEO of the nonprofit organization A Different Shade of Love, provided the AC units.

“Today, we went back to Golden Acres where Kodak grew up and passed out 100 AC units,” Pierre-Paul wrote on Instagram. “Kodak not only respects where he is from, but he values the people that looked out for him while he was there. He spoke on how HOT the summers can get and AC units were the very first thing he thought of, so we did it without any hesitation. When I got the call, I smiled because I know that his heart is pure and the love is real. I’m blessed to be a part of the journey!!!”

Kodak’s good deeds come just a month after Broward County, Florida celebrated Kodak Black Day. However, despite all of his recent good deeds for the community,

Kodak remains a controversial figure in the rap industry.

Kodak flung stacks of hundred dollar bills from a yacht in a video shared to his Instagram on June 29. Black was accused of first-degree criminal sexual assault against a juvenile girl in 2016. Black reportedly bit and raped the girl in a hotel room. Instead of going to jail, he pled guilty to first-degree assault and battery and was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
