Lil Wayne went on Uncomfortable Conversations with Emmanuel Acho and shared details of his suicide attempt. Back when the rapper was 12, he tried to shoot himself with a gun. Before that, Wayne had experienced suicidal thoughts that made him realize his existing mental health issues.
The reasons Lil Wayne attempted suicide was loneliness and lack of communication in the family. The day Lil Wayne decided to kill himself was when the rapper got into an argument with his mother. She threatened to throw away Lil Wayne’s “rap folder” because of lies about his school schedule.
Lil Wayne decided to shoot himself. He grabbed his mother’s gun, pointed it at his chest, and pulled the trigger. As Lil Wayne describes it, he didn’t feel any pain because of shock.
Eventually, police came and started knocking. Cops couldn’t hear anything, so Wayne slid to the door with his shirt covered in blood and kicked it with his last strength. Once in, police started running over him, looking for drugs and guns. However, one officer, out of all “Uncle Bob,” noticed Lil Wayne. He took the kid to the hospital, where he was treated and eventually saved.
Lil Wayne and Uncle Bob met years later. The police officer refused to take anything back from the rapper. He said he’s just glad he “saved a life that mattered.”
This is not the first time Lil Wayne tells a story about Uncle Bob. The rapper was already mentioning him in the interview for Associated Press and when receiving the BET Award.
Overall, Emmanuel Acho and Lil Wayne had a deep conversation about mental health issues, their causes, and coping methods.
Before the interview, parts of the unauthorized documentary “The Carters” had resurfaced. Lil Wayne mentions his childhood there too. He also makes various disturbing comments, with Nicki Minaj laughing in the background.
