Rap star Rod Wave is riding the wave with his new number one album ‘SoulFly’ debuting at the top of the chart this week.
He sold 130,000 equivalent album units ending the week of April 1. He also has the highest-debuting R&B/Hip-hop of 2021.
‘SoulFly’ is Mr. Wave’s third charting album. All three have reached the top 10, and each is doing better than the last. Ghetto Gospel topped out at No. 10, and Pray 4 Love debuted at number #2.
But not only has the rapper’s album sells grown, but it seems his clout as well. Commenting on why he didn’t appear on Drake’s ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” he said, “Yeah, I was supposed to be on that, but I didn’t like how my verse came out. So I kind of scratched it.”
Turning down Prince of Hip-hop Drake shows you the power of the Wave.
It’s safe to say Rod has a bright and long career ahead of him. And now he’s literally at the top of his game.
