On Jan. 16, Young Thug posted a video of him rapping Gunna’s Freddie Gibbs diss on his Instagram. The rap is from Gunna’s newest album, Drip Season 4. Thug has chosen to be on Gunna’s side of this beef. The beef between Gunna and Gibbs is a complicated tale.

According to Complex, the beef between Gunna and Gibbs goes back to 2020. In December of 2019, Gunna was seen talking to a reporter about a local crime. His cousin was the suspect and he was trying to absolve his cousin of the crime. Most people did not see it like that though. Instead, they thought that Gunna was snitching on his relative.

Five months later, in May 2020, the clip resurfaced. There was a rumor going around that Gunna appeared on the show Crime Stoppers as a snitch. He explained the situation to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

“Yes, that’s me, but that wasn’t on no Crime Stoppers,” Gunna explained. “I don’t know what the hell niggas thinking about ’cause I wasn’t in no case or nothing. So a nigga even saying like, ‘You snitched on…’ Who? I was never in no case. My cousin was in a jail—a little girl got killed—and another nigga went to court and said my cousin did it, but my cousin didn’t do it. My cousin still got life for that shit, til this day.”

On the same day, Gibbs responded in a tweet. He subliminally called Gunna a snitch.

Since then, Gunna and Gibbs have been at odds with each other. The Young Stoner Life artist even tweeted this statement about Gibbs on Twitter at the start of the year:

Yikes.
