West Coast rapper Drakeo The Ruler tragically passed away last month (Dec.19) in Los Angeles, CA. He left behind a legacy, a genuinely unique catalog of music, as well as friends and family determined to keep his name alive. Among those close friends is fellow West Coast artist 03 Greedo.
03 Greedo’s Heartfelt Message
Earlier this week (Jan.25), 03 Greedo took to Instagram to pay tribute to Drakeo. The long, sincere message read: “I wanted to wait until I felt like a lot of the clouts post died down because this one really crushed me, I lost a lot of homies, family, and industry friends while I’ve been locked up but to loose my evil twin fucked me up.”
He continued, “I wake up every day wishing I made parole so I could convinced you to move out of LA with me and focus on the music. To loose your n-ggas you made your first millions with before even coming home to enjoy it, is mind blowing. Coming home to Shoreline broken up and no Ketchy or Drakeo we still have so many hot songs we haven’t shown the world.”
03 Greedo continues to go on an emotional and nostalgic digression, citing specific memories he shared with his late friend. “I remembered talking to each other from the jail phones and getting write Ups because of prison was here with global tell recording. It wasn’t one call where you wouldn’t rap or tell me about a new chain.” He typed. “You did all that time in solitary and was fighting life but would just be laughing out loud. Lol, my boy was a real deal lunatic and a fucking genius.”

Aside from the clear personal connection, Drakeo and 03 Greedo have linked several times musically. Tracks like ‘Out The Slums,’‘Ion Rap Beef,’ and ‘100’have the two Cali rappers joining forces.
A senseless act of violence
Drakeo was assassinated last month with a fatal neck wound. He was set to perform at The Once Upon a Time in LA Festival that fateful Saturday. Allegedly the stabbing took place backstage during a physical altercation. As of now, no arrests have happened in connection to the murder.
The ‘Flu Flamming’ artist received massive mourning from rap artists throughout the industry. With 03 Greedo, Drake, Juicy J, Kenny Beats, and Guapdad 4000 gave their condolences via social media in the days following the stabbing.
