Famed rapper 21 Savage turned himself in to local authorities Thursday night to face allegedly manufactured allegations of drugs and weapon possession related to his arrest in 2019, according to Buzzfeed. Earlier this month, a local judge had placed a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of illegal drug and weapon possession. He was released the very same night on bail.

21 Savage, born: She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, claims to be born and raised in Atlanta. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency says otherwise. They say that he is actually from the United Kingdom. He had came to America in 2005. They had arrested him in 2019 for an expired Visa. Soon afterwards, they had released him due to public outcry. At the time, he was convicted with felony drug charges, which his attorneys claimed was false. The conviction was later vacated. ICE later dropped the charge in immigration court.

The Charges

The warrant was placed on him in Dekalb County from Sep. 7 – 23, when he turned himself in. The warrant claims that on the night of his arrest in 2019, he had tossed out a bottle containing codeine. It also said that he had a handgun in his car at the time of the arrest.

Charles Kuck, 21 Savage’s attorney, told XXL that his client was not aware of the warrant until he turned himself in. He also says that 21 Savage was in the process of obtaining a green card. He reportedly has an immigration status hearing scheduled for Nov. 1. Kuck also claims that ICE is pushing trumped up charges to prevent him from from obtaining lawful permanent residence in America. Kuck also claims that there is no legitimate basis for the charges.
