On September 2nd, Rapper 21 Savage and producer Metro Boomin released Savage Mode 2.
The dynamic duo 21 Savage and Metro Boomin reunion to create a part two of the 2016 Savage Mode album. Savage Mode 2 is a 15 track album featuring guests, Drake, Young Thug, Young Nudy, and Morgan Freeman. The actor Morgan Freeman is narrating the “Intro” and the “Snitches and Rats” interlude. In the song “Many Men” Savage used a snippet of 50 Cent chorus from his song “Many Men”.
In 2016, Metro Boomin and 21 savage collabs to create Savage Mode. The nine-track mixtape reached the Billboard charts and had a featuring guest, Atlanta rapper Future on the song “X”. Since then, Savage released two projects since the 2016 mixtape. For his recent project, I Am > I Was, he was nominated for the 2020 Grammy’s for the best rap album.
The Slaughter King and Metro announced the release of the album days prior, on social media platforms. In addition to announcing the release of Savage Mode 2, they posted the album cover. The album cover still includes the heart and dagger, but it has an urban late 90’s and early 2000’s style.

St Louis producer Metro Boomin left fans with a teaser clip promoting the album. The clip consists of a gravesite setting, the signature heart and dagger, and the duo creating music in the studio. Metro captioned the clip by announcing the narrator and director. “Savage Mode II The Movie Narrated by @morganfreeman Directed by @gibsonhazard Friday” said Metro via an Instagram post.
One day after the release of the album, Savage released the music video to the song “Runnin” on Youtube.
