A Judge recently decided to drop a blogger’s 3-million-dollar lawsuit against Cardi B. And Cardi is basking in the victory.
And who can blame the expectant mother?
The Details of the latest Cardi Dramedy
A vlogger/blogger recently tried to sue Cardi B over death threats. According to the blogger, the rapper’s clap back led to death threats against her. So, feeling the pressure, she attempted to pursue restitution.
Fanning the Flames
According to hotnewshiphop.com, a blogger named Tasha made some crude statements about ‘Bodak Yellow’ performer. The claims were indeed malicious enough for the artist to notice and file a lawsuit.
As the source notes,
“Cardi sued Tasha after the vlogger claimed she had Herpes, was a prostitute in the past, and abused drugs.”
As some would say, those are fighting words. However, Cardi initially tried to work things out. She made a request for Tasha to drop the claims. As most know by now, she didn’t cease. Instead, she doubled down on her claims. According to another source,
“She even caused a sensation by revealing that the child Cardi B was carrying will be born with an intellectual disability due to Cardi B’s acute drug addiction.”
Looking at these statements, it’s obvious the blogger/vlogger was looking for a reaction. She got exactly what she was looking for.
Instead of taking things to the streets, the artist took her grievances to court in a show of maturity. And given the $75,000 libel suit against Tasha, obviously, the ‘She Bad’ artist did not take any of Tasha’s statements lightly.
How much can a person take?
Nevertheless, the blogger did not expect the repercussions she would face. One might say karma paid a visit.
So, she responded with a $3M countersuit.
Judge’s Decision on Lawsuit Against Cardi
However, the judge did not feel the vlogger’s case held any weight and thus dropped the charges. According to the judge,
“The blogger failed to “produce any evidence” showing Cardi had threatened her.”
That is not to say Tasha did not receive death threats. However, the death threats did not come directly from the rapper, so thus, the charges could not stick.
As hotnewhiphop notes,
“The judge explained Tasha only provided evidence of Cardi’s friends making threats, not the “Up” rapper herself.
Back to Cardi’s Lawsuit Filing
Cardi’s original filing for defamation remains in place. Subsequently, a hearing is set to proceed sometime soon. As a source notes, the judge had this to say regarding the filing,
“On Cardi’s claims against Tasha, we’ll leave that up to the jury.”
Without a doubt, this makes for a great moralistic tale. One must always take caution when making public statements. Once something is put out, you can’t take it back. And the boomerang effect might be lethal.
