50 Cent Boxing Company SMS Promotions Files For Bankruptcy
SMS Promotions, the boxing organization launched by rapper 50 Cent, filed for bankruptcy in Connecticut, according to TMZ Sports.
SMS Promotions was launched in 2012 after a failed attempt at a joint venture with then-bestie, Floyd Mayweather Jr. After the two had a falling out. 50 decided to go on and get into the promoting game all by himself. According to court documents seen by TMZ, the company filed for Chapter 11 revealed it has between $100,000- $500,000 in debts.
An attorney for SMS Promotions says 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, made the decision to file so the business could reorganize and emerge as a stronger company.
SMS has some big names in their stable like Yuriorkis Gamboa, James Kirkland and Olympic medalist Andre Dirrell.
