50 Cent can now add another show to his already extensive collection. He’s currently working with Starz to bring a new vision to the small screen.
50’s Empire
While Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is primarily known for his musical success, his business acumen in television production is nothing to scoff at. He began his television empire with the hit show Power back in 2014 and has been building on that universe ever since. Spin-offs Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book III: Raising Kanan are only gaining popularity by the day. Along with two other spin-offs Power Book IV: Force and Power Book V: Influence in the development stage, Jackson shows no signs of slowing down.
Something new for Starz
With crime drama BMF already seeing great reviews in its first season, it’s no surprise Jackson is sticking with Starz for his newest project “Queen Nzinga”. He announced the show yesterday (Dec.16) on his Instagram page. “If you liked the movie 300 your gonna love this,” he quipped.
Jackson also confirmed the lead role will be played by Nigerian-American actress Yetide Badaki. “You know Yetide from American God’s. I’m not playing around out here.” He wrote.
Queen Nzinga is set in 17th century Angola and will chronicle the journey of the titular character from a meek young woman to a warrior. It is being described as an “African warrior drama”. In addition to starring, Badaki will be producing the show with Jackson, Steven S. DeKnight, and Mo Abudu.
While no official premiere date has been set, fans are already showing their excitement on social media:
