Over the years the DMV has become a hotbed for hip-hop, with acts such as Wale, Sa-Roc, and Logic developing their own followings. One can argue that PG County native, Lloyd the 2nd can be added to that lineage. He’s been grinding for years, bursting on the scene first in 2016 with the album“TRAP: The Real Always Prosper”. Ever since, it’s been a steady ascension to stardom in the DWV. In between time, he has released a 3 song EP entitled “Trifecta” and collaborated with fellow underground artist, Chi Kartel on bangers like Fully Loaded and Money Calling.
Last week, Lloyd The 2nd makes his triumphant return with the street banger “Tony Jr” under the Loud Music Records imprint. “Tony Jr” contains 10 s0ngs, with Do It Large, What About Now, and the title track Tony Jr being among the standouts. The album feels very personal, as he touches on the pitfalls of hustling to survive. This is good old-fashioned trap rap in purest form. Lloyd the 2nd is a player in the DC-area right now but don’t be surprised when you start seeing his name pop up on the national stage.
