Alicia Keys’ production Resort to Love is set to premiere in a living room near you.
Last year marked the beginning of production for Key’s new film. Production is a wrap, and the movie is soon to air to the anticipation of many of her fans. According to a press write-up, Resort to Love is your typical romantic comedy. The plot centers on a budding pop star who finds herself in a bit of a love triangle between her ex and his fiancé. Ironically, Erica manages to get a booking at an exotic location. To her surprise, she will be singing at her ex’s wedding. And with an ex, his fiancé, and pending nuptials at a beautiful island location, what could go wrong?
The movie has a roster of stars, including Jay Pharoah, Christina Milan, Sinqua Walls, and a seasoned director. Steven Tsuchida, director of films Life Size2 and Cobra Kai, knows what he is doing, And undoubtedly, he will be working his magic on the film.
There is some buzz surrounding this film. But not all the talk is positive, as some are calling the plotline cheesy. But the movie is yet to air, so we chalk that up to typical arm-chair critique.
Alicia Key is well-known in the industry for her musicianship and artistry.
Her uniqueness was refreshing and a boon to the industry. Alicia brought sophistication and classical flavor to R&B that was not prevalent at the time. She was a master at her craft. And no one would deny that her musicianship was on another level. What more would one expect from a former Valedictorian of a Performing Arts School in Manhattan? She blew everyone away with her debut album “Song’s in A minor.” And according to a source, that album went platinum five times over, earning her five Grammys. Her shine has been inextinguishable ever since. And there is no expectation for mediocrity with her work in film.
Furthermore, this is not Alicia’s first production.
Alicia is also noted as a producer on the Netflix movie Work it! So, needless to say, she knows what she’s doing. With that said, here’s to hoping that she proves all those armchair critics wrong. For those looking to peep Keys’ new film Resort to Love, you can catch it on Netflix on July 29th.
