Anthony Mackie Set to Star In Marvel’s Captain America 4

According to sources, Anthony Mackie has signed a deal to star in “Marvel’s Captain America 4.”  The movie will be co-written by Malcolm Spellman, who also wrote “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Mackie initially played Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and went on to reprise the role in five more films. Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, handed over Captain America’s shield at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.” Then Wilson took over the mantle in the Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios are known for keeping the specifics of films under wraps, and it’s unclear whether Sebastian Stan, who co-starred with Mackie in the Disney+ limited series, will be involved.  It will be intriguing to see how Marvel continues the Captain America franchise. Fans are hoping to see some familiar faces, even though Evans said in March that he will not be reprising his iconic role. On his Instagram story, Sebastian Stan congratulated his pal. “Hell. Yes,” the actor wrote.

Captain America 4 awaits a distant release date still

Given Marvel’s congested movie pipeline, “Captain America 4,” will probably not hit theaters until 2023. “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Eternals” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” rank among Marvel’s 2021 upcoming films. In addition, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and the “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels” are all scheduled for release in 2022.

Mackie’s film has yet to be assigned a director.
