They say the only shots you miss are the ones you don’t take. Well 23-year-old, Isaiah Smalls brought those words to reality as he decided to shoot his shot showing up to Diddy’s house uninvited and unannounced.
According to TMZ, Saturday (February 12), Smalls began pounding on the security gate of Diddy’s estate hoping to gain access. Once denied by Diddy’s security, Smalls countered that denial by taking it upon himself to hop the fence. Once hopping the fence, security easily detained Mr. Smalls. Upon the arrival of officers, Mr. Smalls was arrested for trespassing and later released.
A video clip was provided by TMZ showing Smalls displaying erratic behavior and shouting expletives.
Luckily, Diddy was not home at the time of the incident, but these occurrences are becoming all too familiar in the Los Angeles (LA) area.
All Too Common?
Chris Brown has experienced several break-ins throughout the last seven years. In 2015, C Breezy’s home was broken into twice within two months. The second of the two, three men were carrying handguns entering the home while Brown’s aunt was present, locking her into a closet.
On the rise artist, Pop Smoke was the target of a robbery in LA, ultimately resulting in his unwarranted murder.
Message to Aspiring Artists
Running up on artists and/or breaking into their homes is not going to get you a record deal. It is unlawful, as well as threatening. With the number of clout chasers seeking a viral moment this generation, being a rap artist amongst the general public is already a risk. Blindsiding an artist for the purposes of listening to your music only increases their paranoia. I’m curious as to why this never occurs with white music executives such as Lyor Cohen or Jimmy Iovine, who are the overseer of the record labels that signs artists’ label. Not wishing this on anybody, but it is apparent what is occurring.
Please use this 50 Cent clip as an example of what not to do.
