East Atlanta Rapper Grip becomes the newest member of Shady Records!
Eminem continues to add lyricists to an already stacked roster. Earlier today, Atlanta rapper Grip took to social media to announce news of a deal with Shady Records.
He posted a picture of him and Eminem sitting together in the studio with a handshake emoji.
Fans were ecstatic as they knew Grip would fit perfectly with the Shady imprint. Grip rose to popularity with the 2019 release of his critically-acclaimed album Snubnose. Fans and critics alike praised the album for its smooth and engaging production, along with above-average lyricism and storytelling.
However, Grip has been making music as far back as 2017, with his cult-classic project Porch. He has received lots of praise and notoriety as someone from the underground with true crossover appeal. He has been releasing small EPs for his fans in the meantime before he releases a new album. That album will be released on Shady Records.
Paul Rosenberg, Shady President had something to say about the signing.
“Grip is the type of artist that brings you into his world and expresses himself through a complete composed body of work. If true album artists in this era are a rare breed, then Grip is a unicorn! We’re excited for him to join the Shady Records family.”
Grip was ecstatic about being signed to such a prestigious label.
“It was one of those full circle moments because I grew up on Eminem so to have him reach out and let me know how dope my sh*t is was so cool. Excited to partner with Shady/Interscope and get the music out on a larger platform.”
