Good things soon end, as much of the waiting world found out Thursday with the announcement of “Atlanta” TV show’s ending. On February 17th, the head of FX studios made the announcement. Season 4 will officially be the last season of “Atlanta.” Ironically, this announcement is the precursor to the season three premiere. For Glover, it’s perfect timing to bring things to a conclusion. In his words,
“Death is natural. I feel like when the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right, they don’t happen. So I don’t feel any longevity. Because then things start to get weird.”
That is an inarguably poignant point.
“Atlanta:” Show’s Hiatus
Fans of Glover have been missing “Atlanta” from their lineup for some time. According to a source, due to the various delays, it has been three years since the last season of “Atlanta” aired. However, fans can finally rest with ease, if only momentary. The third season of “Atlanta” will be airing on March 24th.
“Atlanta:” Fresh New TV Show
“Atlanta” was an out-of-the-box series. Yet, it became a fan favorite for many. The 2016 series followed the trajectory of two cousins, Earn (Glover) and Paper Boi (Brian Henry). And it was like nothing on television at the time; the show shined a camera on the struggles and success of two African American men connected not merely by blood but friendship and a dream. According to a source, three will pick up where season two left off. Yes, we are going global. Viewers get to follow Earn and Paper Boi abroad to Europe.
“Atlanta:” Show Is Not Over Yet
There is no need to be too disappointed as much is left to enjoy before the end. Our beloved cast will reprise their roles in season three. So yes, you will get more Earn, Paper Boi, Darius, and Van. Season four is a certainty as production has already begun. So no tears yet!
The Ending’s Emotionalism
Indeed Glover is feeling a bit of pride mixed with sentimentality. Recognizing it’s time to close to a chapter is one thing. Saying goodbye to a family is another thing entirely. Glover is not the only one feeling the feels. Van, who plays Earn’s love interest, shared a bit of how she felt,
“I’m glad I knew it was ending because then I could really lean into the relationships, knowing this was my last chance to play Van. Van changed my life, and I loved her.”
So chin up! We have season three to enjoy before the final hurrah. So, let’s live it up.
Here’s to Donald Glover, who brought the world an inspiring story set against the backdrop of Hotlanta.
