A video, shot by WMAR-TV, of a mother beating up her son for participating in the Baltimore riots has gone viral. The mother, who was identified as Toya Graham, spotted her 16-year-old son throwing rocks at police and she quickly repremanded him in front of hundreds of people.
“That’s my only son, and at the end of the day, I don’t want him to be a Freddie Gray,” Graham said. “But to stand up there and vandalize police officers, that’s not justice.”
Graham spoke with NBC News about the video and explained her actions. She said she was concerned about protecting him and that rioting in Baltimore is not the right way to get justice for Freddie Gray. People took to social media to express their views on the video and most people congratulated her saying she deserved Mom of the Year.
