When in the world does Beyonce have time to sleep? When not making secret music videos or prepping for the Formations tour, she is speaking out to Garage Magazine. Beyonce’s rare interview with Garage Magazine, which you can read on the magazine’s app, speaks about her love of art and the work of such artists like Aaron Young, Donald Judd, Tracey Emin, Kara Walker, Ed Ruscha and Donald Judd. When it comes to her love of art, she states in the mag,
“There’s a release and an immediacy there that helps me escape from my other projects.”
The photos shown in Garage are colorful collages of the singer are taken by artist Urs Fischer. She also talks about family life and her biggest hero, her mom Tina Knowles saying,
“She has taught me about caring for others, working hard and working smart. Everything I know about being a mother comes from examples she has shown. My mother has instilled confidence in my sister and me and taught us to always be grateful.”
Tina also has an influence in her love of art saying, “My mother is a huge art collector and she always encouraged me from a young age to invest in art,”
She also talks about her proudest moment and that is her being a first time mommy to 4 year old Blu Ivy.
But when it comes to her as an artist, she says she no longer is influenced by outsiders in the industry saying, “Over time, I have learned to focus on the things I want to focus on in the time frame that I set,” she also states, “I no longer have to work based on someone else’s expectations or pressure. I put enough pressure on myself! I love being 100-percent involved with all my projects and now I’m fortunate enough to do that.”
