Joe Biden Accepts Presidential Nomination from Democratic Party
On Thursday night, Joe Biden gratefully accepted the Democratic presidential nomination, after running for presidency twice before. He remains optimistic despite the current climate of the United States and urges us as a country to do the same. In his speech, Biden states that he will be an ally to us rather than a dark cloud, as a subliminal message to President Trump.
“The current president has cloaked America in darkness for much too long — too much anger, too much fear, too much division,” Mr. Biden said. “Here and now, I give you my word: If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I will be an ally of the light, not the darkness.”
During his speech, Biden discussed his solutions to some of the major crises we are currently facing, such as the spike in unemployment, Covid-19, racial injustices, gun control, and those in need of support due to this global pandemic. Biden, in a short and sweet sentence, gave it to us straight – “he keeps waiting for a miracle, well I have news for him: No miracle is coming.” As honestly as he could, Biden made us aware that as much as we can hope to wake up and see our world go right back to normal, or “pre-rona”, unfortunately we might not see that day come as soon as we hope for. It takes a strong, effective, and diligent leading power to work hard, not only himself, but for those he represents, to find the most effective solutions as possible to combat this current global pandemic, especially in this world of much uncertainty.
Also in his speech, Biden mentioned those who were not as supportive of him and his campaign as early on. This was primarily the millennial/gen Z demographic.
#FMPolitics: Joe Biden Accepts Presidential Nomination from Democratic Party
Just last week, with the announcement of Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate, Biden received an outpour of congratulatory responses, with double the amount of disgruntled opinions and less gentle words – especially from the millennial/gen Z crowd. Undoubtedly, this is a proud, monumental, and groundbreaking moment in history as not only is Kamala a woman, but a Black woman running for office, however many hold some not so nice feelings towards Kamala based off of some of her actions and statements in the past.
Biden, though, is quite aware that he was not much of a crowd favorite for this demographic, but he wanted to make it clear to them that he hears their voices and that maybe if other’s did less talking and more listening, they will hear their voices, too. He is ultimately hopefully that his presidency will make many great and necessary pro-active changes to the American society rather than leave the nation in turmoil yet again.
