Biz Markie is still alive, despite rumors from false reports

Several news outlets announced the death of 57-year-old rapper Biz Markie yesterday. This originated from his state of critical condition under hospice care, which led to the misconception that the rapper had passed away due to his health problems. His friends and family corrected the news, with his manager Jenni Izumi releasing a statement.

“Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best health care possible,” it reads. “Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers, and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Complications from his diabetes hospitalized Markie last year. Currently, he remains under hospice care and rehabilitation to hopefully improve his current health. Friends and family have commented on his strength and perseverance to improve his health and live for much longer.

Biz Markie, best known for his hit “Just a Friend,” in 1989, is a household favorite for many. His legacy and honor will continue as he fights to improve his health, and those achievements will continue after his death. In the meantime, be sure to keep Biz and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
