Chicago rapper Bobby Shmurda signed with Roc Nation, according to an article in the New York Times. “Meeting [Bobby] for the first time, you can’t even fathom what he went through because he doesn’t wear it,” said Mike Brinkley, a senior vice president of artist management with Roc Nation. “He’s like, ‘I’m here to work, what do you need me to do?’”

Bobby was recently released from prison. Apart from his new partnership with Roc Nation, he now also has many plans and new material coming in. Bobby Shmurda and Quavo are planning to co-release a mixtape. Bobby’s debut album is coming up. The rapper also grew active in TikToking. Overall, according to Bobby, his day is “music, girls, family, music, girls, more girls.”

Bobby was also working with the same management team that helped Meek Mill after the release from prison. So far, the label and the team have been working on Bobby’s appearances, debut album and documentary movie. Roc Nation is currently looking for distributors for a new documentary about Bobby.

Bobby has spent around four years in jail, starting in 2016. He faced a 69-count indictment, including murder, attempted murder, dealing drugs and weapons possession. Eventually, Bobby pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon.

Now out of prison as of February 2020, Bobby Shmurda has been on the grind. His new music is coming in, both solos and features. A mentioned movie is coming out soon, and even TikTok now has Bobby Shmurda with them. “We’re going to be dancing 24/7,” Bobby told the New York Times. “When I dance, it’s to show you that I came through the struggle, but I overcame it, and we’re still overcoming it.”
