For almost six years, Bobby Shmurda has been behind bars serving a sentence for conspiracy to murder, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment. A clock counting down to August 4th has appeared on the Brooklyn rapper’s website, and many fans speculate that it is the date of his release hearing for probation. If this is true, we will soon be seeing some new, exciting projects from him including music and a documentary.
In some statements given to TMZ, Bobby’s mother, Leslie Pollard, gave some insight towards his plan for life after his sentence. According to Pollard, who has been visiting him in jail consistently up until the pandemic hit, Shmurda has been working hard to turn his life around. He has been writing a lot of bars staring at cell walls and is apparently going to record music with Epic Records, who had previously signed him before the charges.
There is also news of a Bobby Shmurda documentary in the works as a teaching tool for troubled youth. It will tell the story of his life, giving details of his hard childhood, his rise to success, his fall into jail, and, hopefully, his release and come-back. He also is planning to further his support for at-risk kids by visiting them and telling them his story so that they will not commit the same mistakes.
