It’s Confirmed! Britney Griner & Glory Johnson Are Expecting.
Recently WNBA star Britney Griner and her girlfriend Glory Johnson made headlines for a domestic violence dispute that went public. Both of the women were arrested for disorderly conduct and assault after the police were called to their home. It looks like the two have gotten over that hurdle, however, because only a month later, the couple is married and are now expecting a baby!
Johnson, who also plays professional ball, made the announcement via Instagram this week that she officially had a “bun in the oven.” In the caption, she talked about how excited she was to finally become a mom, but she also acknowledged how difficult it will be to balance motherhood and her career.
“It has always been a dream of mine to start a family with someone I love,” Johnson said in a statement released by the team ahead of the Shock’s home opener on Friday.
“Being a professional athlete that plays year-round, there is never a perfect time to get pregnant without putting my career on hold. The entire process, from learning our fertility options, to making sacrifices necessary nine months before the child is born, is merely preparing me to become a great wife and an even better mother.”
“Right now, I not only have my health to worry about, but also the health of this little one resting inside of me. Rest assured I will be back next season, stronger and more ready to play than ever!”
