BROCKHAMPTON is back with another crazy and colorful music video
BROCKHAMPTON is not new to the crazy music video game. In their latest one, “DON’T SHOOT UP THE PARTY,” we see the group members with a canister of what appears to be nitrous oxide. Later, we see them attempt to revive a member, Matt, who is dying. Overall, this video is incredibly experimental. It features fast cuts, interesting angles, little context, and general craziness.
“What a miracle we dreamed, a million stories to tеll / You are now tuned in, baby, to the nеw classic”
Historically, BROCKHAMPTON has always prided itself on being experimental and unique within the hip-hop community. With members of multiple races, ethnicities, sexualities, and backgrounds, the group rose to fame by standing out. The verses in “DON’T SHOOT UP THE PARTY” reference these struggles within the band members through hard-hitting lyrics.
Music videos like this simply show fans and new viewers that the group has no intentions of conforming to the norms of the music industry. In response, fans of the group had mostly positive things to say, joking about the psychedelic feel of the video. Overall, fans have come to expect this kind of content from them. Seeing a group like BROCKHAMPTON continue to break norms is refreshing and needed in the rap community.
“DON’T SHOOT UP THE PARTY” is on their new album: ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE, available on all platforms.
