Cardi B is celebrating today as a history maker. She now has the title of the first female rapper in history to have her releases hit Diamond certification multiple times. However, this is not the only record she breaks with the awarding of this honor.  According to a source, she is the third female artist to ever have multiple diamond singles alongside Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

“Girls Like You” is A Collaborative Win

In 2018 Cardi teamed up with Maroon 5 to put out the hit single “Girls Like You”. And it’s one of the best moves Cardi’s  ever made. As thirstyfornews.com notes, ‘Girls Like You” was Diamond certified on November 29th.

Is that unexpected? As the same source notes, the song reportedly has over 3 billion YouTube views. Additionally, the single sat at the top of the Billboard 100 for weeks. Recently, the 2018 collaborative project crossed the 10 million sales-threshold.

Cardi’s Big Year

Without a doubt, Cardi is having a stellar year. Just last week, she received word she’s secured a Grammy nomination for ‘“Up”. With the nomination in the bag, it is likely that she could take the title for best rap performance. However, her newest Diamond win is indeed frosting on the cake. Like it says in her bomb verse on the “Girls Like You” track,

“I don’t really want a white horse and a carriage

I’m thinkin’ more of white Porsches and karats.”

And with two diamond honors, she’s getting it done.

Cardi’s Gratitude is Everything

With such an achievement, it is no wonder that she is all smiles. Of course, it’s one thing to wear multiple diamonds. But to earn a Diamond certification for artistry is a testament to one’s excellence. So now, with two Diamond singles and countless other awards under her belt, she is proving she’s earned her spot in history. In the iconic words of Drake, “Started from the Bottom Now We’re Here.”

And in a show of thanks, she took to Twitter to show how grateful she was.

“Wow I got two Diamond records! Thank you sooo much @maroon5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it. I’m forever grateful.”

Congratulations to Cardi B, the history maker. And many props to Cardi for showing other little girls what hard work makes possible no matter where you start.
