Family and Friends Gather to Celebrate DMX’s Life In Service Befitting of Hip-Hop Royalty

On Sunday April 25th, 2021 dozens gathered to celebrate DMX’s life as the late rapper real name Earl Simmons, was laid to rest.  The celebration of life took place at the Christian Cultural Center, in Brooklyn New York. Multiple friends and family were in attendance. In fact, at least two thousand people came to give respects at the five hour celebration. Unsurprisingly, those giving tributes were some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Including Nas, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Eve, and Lil Kim to name a few.

Swizz Beatz stood in tribute, his stirring account an affectionate remembrance of DMX as a true brother. Additionally, a candid acknowledgment from Russell Simmons (Co-Founder of Def Jam) followed.

Mourners remember DMX as more than just  a music icon.

 

Grievers also stood to remember and celebrate DMX’s life as a family man, a father, and a friend. DMX’s 15 children, God-daughter Paige Hurd (actress), his ex-wife, and Fiancé Desiree Lindstrom all shared heart felt tributes. Affectionately, his ex-wife Tashera Simmons, stood to recall their first meeting. She additionally shared the moving words of their final conversation. In a final embrace of DMX’s current fiancé Lindstrom, Tashera brought her respects to a conclusion.

DMX’s honors are abundant.

Additionally, members of the Ruff Ryders, Louis Farrakhan, Governor Cuomo, and Mike Spano (Mayor of a Yonkers New York), gave honor to the trailblazing rap don. The New York State Senate declared December 18th  “DMX Day”. Finally, the service was brought to a close with longtime friend Faith Evans, giving a virtual honorary.

In conclusion, truly, DMX  has left an indelible mark on the world.  There will never be another like him. And he will be dearly missed…
