Kanye’s Most Iconic Music Videos

Music videos allow for artists to tell their own stories for viewers to interpret. In honor of Kanye West’s 43rd birthday, it is time to look back on some of his greatest music videos! Today and every day will be celebrating Kanye West. While each video is quite different, they have become legendary in their own ways.

Just A Few Ways To Be Celebrating Kanye West

1. Heartless (2009)

One of Kanye’s most memorable music videos for this generation is “Heartless”. What makes this video so unique is the animation aspect, which is not all that common in the aspect of creating music videos. One of the main focuses is the woman in the beginning, where he shares how he feels about the woman. West also includes iconic cartoons of popular culture from the past, enhancing overall value for the viewers. Years later, these cartoons still are meaningful for viewers as the video allows for memories to flood back in. This is one of the main reasons why we are celebrating Kanye West

2. Famous (2016)

Kanye’s video “Famous” has become quite controversial throughout the years, which has made this video as famous as it is today. The video features many public figures known to the public, they are naked but the bodies in the video are made of wax. All of the public figures are together, which also reminds us that nobody is perfect and everyone should be able to live their lives. Some figures represented in the mini film are Kanye himself, Kim Kardashian, Caitlyn Jenner, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, and many more. While the video expressed the importance of living life and sexuality, the video became more famous thanks to Taylor Swift . The feud continued this year, bringing more popularity and attention to the overall focus to the video and messages behind it.

3. Gold Digger (2009)

One of the most listened to “classic old songs”, “Gold Digger” is still one of the greatest hits and videos of West 10 years later. He addresses the idea that women would rather use him for his money than love him for the person he is. These ideas of self questioning when it comes to love is a common issue for anyone, enhancing the importance of relating music to life.

4. Runaway (2010)

What makes this video unique is the focus on the group of ballerinas wearing black uniforms, automatically drawing attention. It almost seems like West is referencing the movie “” “Black Swan”. There is also an idea of being a perfectionist embedded within the video. The video allows for  unique forms of identity, while also addressing how popular culture shifts the way we think.

5. Bound 2 (2013)

“Bound 2” focuses on himself and wife Kim Kardashian West, rather than using another female protagonist. West incorporates what is most beautiful in life: nature, open space, animals, and Kim. He shows that everything can be beautiful in its own way. While this is not the most favorite music video for some fans, he was able to make a statement through the visuals and subjects used about beauty.
