AMBER ROSE SLUT WALK
This past Sunday, former stripper, Amber Rose stood up for all women worldwide who has been violated and abused both mentally and physically. She created ‘The Amber Rose Slut Walk’ which is a walk designed to combat sexual injustice, victim blaming, derogatory labeling, and gender inequality. The word “slut” has always been misused and misguided. If your clothes are too tight or too short that instantly makes you a slut! When a woman wants to go out and feel sexy she can’t because she’ll be labeled as a slut. If a man gets rejected they’ll lash out and try to belittle a female by calling her names like slut, hoe, thot, whore, etc. It’s time we stand up for ourselves, and Ms. Rose is the first woman of this generation to design an event as this one.
“I’ve decided to have this Slut Walk for women who have been through sh*t. Even though I am up here crying I want to be the strong person you all look up to and I do apologize for all guys”Amber stated during her speech that took place in Los Angeles. In the same breath, she also forgave Kanye West for saying he needed to take 30 showers before getting with Kim Kardashian, but didn’t have to do that for her. She too apologized to Wiz Khalifa for making a song about her and slut shaming her, she stated “I want to let all of that negativity go. Yes some women may dress a certain way, drink a little too much, and have a flirtatious personality but that doesn’t give men the right to ignore women’s rights. Women have the right to say no, no matter how they’re dressed or how flirtatious they seem to be.” The event had a massive turn out, with hundreds of women parading down the streets of LA holding up creative signs and some women even dressed provocatively. No means no and Amber Rose is putting her foot down not only for her, but for all the women who has had their voice ignored. Girl Power!
