B.B. King’s family said Friday that they have hired a lawyer to investigate their suspicions that King’s longtime business manager looted his accounts and rushed his death. King’s two daughters, Patty King and Karen Williams, hired Benjamin Crump, who was involved in the Trayvon Matin case and the police shooting in Ferguson, to take an independent look into their father’s death and the handling of his finances by his business manager, LaVerne Toney.
“They’re not being accusatory. They just want to find out the truth of all that happened with their father,” said Crump.
Brent Bryson, who represents Ms. Toney and the estate, says the allegations aren’t true.
“The allegations against Ms. Toney are absolutely false and without merit, and we look forward to our day in court,” Bryson said. “The facts of the case are not going to change based on who they bring in to present the case.”
