City Girls will officially drop their highly anticipated dance anthem, “Twerkulator,” after teasing it on Tik-Tok for many months.

The rap duo made their announcement with a post of their artwork. You can see JT and Yung Miami with their heads between their legs and rocking matching all-black outfits in the photo. The image is topped with various pink acrylic nails grabbing onto their legs.
The caption reads,
“It’s Time for the Twerkulator. Pre-Save link in bio!”
Their upcoming song follows the success of their assisted verse on BRS Kash’s hit single, “Throat Baby.” They’ve also taken part in other tracks, including Lakeyah’s “Female Goat.” Last year, they had much success with their album City On Lock, so it’s clear they’ll only go up from here! Some are assuming that the song didn’t drop sooner because they didn’t get the credits to the instrumental’s sample of “Planet Rock,” the 80s rap classic from Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force.
Yung Miami and JT have been best friends since they were teenagers. And were inspired to record following a disagreement with some individuals. The two eventually got acquainted with friend and producer MajorNine, from whom they bought their first beat — one that sampled “My Neck, My Back,” the sensual 2002 hit by Khia. Following this, they recorded “Fu*k Dat Ni**a” in August 2017.
By the end of the year, the single made its way onto Quality Control: Control the Streets, Vol. 1. The track’s official video, featuring a pop up cameo from Trina, and Yung Miami’s godmother, appeared the following January. In May 2018, Yung Miami and JT dropped their first mixtape, Period. Two months later, the duo’s career ascended due to their songwriting and vocal assistance on Drake’s “In My Feelings”.
City Girls “Twerkulator” will premiere on all streaming platforms this Friday.
