Country Star Morgan Wallen Never Donated Promised $500K to “Black-led Causes”

Morgan Wallen hasn't donated any of the $500k he promised would go to "Black-led causes."

Country singer Morgan Wallen has captured the attention of the music world for some not-so-savory reasons. Though down-home lyrics like “I can’t love you more than my hometown” seem innocent, Wallen’s words outside the studio have been far less sweet.

In February 2021, neighborhood watch caught the singer hurling slurs in the direction of a car he just exited. Seemingly unaware of the cameras, video unmistakeably captured Wallen using the N-word. Watch the clip, obtained by TMZ, below:

Wallen’s Pathway to Improvement

After receiving backlash and being barred from the American Country Music Awards, Wallen seemed to realize his mistakes. He recorded a statement apologizing and later went on Good Morning America to talk about how he “didn’t mean it in any, in any derogatory manner at all.”

Wallen also shared insights on what happened that February night. “It’s one of my best friends — he was, we were all clearly drunk — I was askin’ his girlfriend to take care of him because he was drunk, and he was leavin’.”

“I was around some of my friends, and we just … we say dumb stuff together,” Wallen said on GMA. “And it was — in our minds, it’s playful … that sounds ignorant, but it — that’s really where it came from … and it’s wrong.”

In an attempt to make amends and regain his sweet-boy reputation, Wallen promised to donate $500K to “Black-led Causes.” Unfortunately, “Of the 56 charities contacted by Rolling Stone, not one said they’d been in contact with Wallen or his team or received any donation,” reports Rolling Stone

Fans are free to make their own conclusions about Wallen’s true intentions. Though he seemed apologetic to the GMA cameras, actions speak louder than words, and the missing money doesn’t lie.
