According to Billboard, DC Comics requested a block on an application that Rihanna’s company, Roraj Trade, for filing a trademark application for the name “Robyn” on June 23, 2014. They feel its too similar to their “Batman & Robin” brand and may confuse people due to Rihanna would be using this mark for “online downloadable general feature magazines”.
Robyn is Rihanna’s legal first name while Robin is Batman’s right hand man and DC comics hold several trademarks under “Robin” including a toy doll and comic books. DC argues that the offered trademark is “identical and highly related” and could be potentially marketed to the same types of customers. Stay tune for more details!
