N.Y Correction Officer Charged for Dealing Drugs to Inmates

According to NY Daily News:

Veteran correction officer Patricia Howard 43, who is assigned to the mail room at the jail, was arraigned on multiple counts of possession in Manhattan Criminal Court Monday morning following her arrest around 10:45 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Ave. and W. 114th St.

Howard had been found to have a red bag full of contraband including cell phones, tobacco and lighters, in addition to nine grams of crack and three ounces of marijuana. The items were meant to be smuggled into the city jail overseen by the scandal-plagued Department of Correction, prosecutors said.

The Manhattan District Attorney and Department of Investigation have been monitoring Howard for months, including on wiretap, prosecutors said. Howard, who has nearly 20 years on the job, was held on a $100,000 bail bond or $50,000 cash bail.
