Delonte West was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, for public intoxication. The former NBA star was recovering from substance abuse addiction at a facility in January.
Delonte West’s Arrest
On Tuesday night, October 19, at 10:32 PM, Mr. West was arrested and spent the night in prison for public intoxication. At the time, Mr. West had possession of alcoholic beverages on the beach. Furthermore, West was yelling and cursing while hitting the police station door in Boynton Beach. He held two open bottles of beer and vodka. Initially, he was stopped by the cops but tried to walk away.
Meanwhile, the cop requested for him to stop and to put both of his drinks down. The 38-year-old player obeyed the cops; he then put his hands in his pockets. As a result, he was cuffed and placed in a cruiser where he continued to argue with the police. Mr. West was then sent to jail and was released on Wednesday at 5:40 AM.
TMZ claims that “Court records show West was ultimately hit with three charges from the incident–obstruction/resisting without violence, open container, and disorderly intoxication. Records show he’s due in court for his arraignment later next month.”
Back in January, the former NBA player was in rehab and working on getting treatment for substance abuse with the help of the Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban. Before he got support, a photo went viral on the internet of him holding a sign on the side of the street.
This situation caused many fans to have concerns for Mr. West and his wellbeing. After the incident, Mr. Cuban and Mr. West met at a convenience shop, which led to West agreeing to go to rehab.
