Yesterday, Kodak Black became a trending topic after disturbing footage surfaced of him groping his mother while the two danced together. Kodak and his mother, Marcelene Simmons, are shown dancing to Rutshelle Guillaumes’ “M Pa La Ankò” during a birthday party in the video that went viral on Sunday (Oct. 10). According to reports, the party was to celebrate the rapper’s brother. Kodak first appears twirling his mother around while performing a slow dance with a two-step. He then grabs his mother’s butt and tries to kiss her on the lips or near her mouth. Kodak tries to kiss her again after the mother and son laugh together.
Regardless of how close Kodak and his mother are, the manner in which he interacted with her was bizarre, to say the least. Kodak has yet to respond to the backlash over the disturbing footage showing him groping his mother.
It’s been a hectic month for Kodak Black
The South Florida rapper has recently been in the news for a multitude of reasons. He made a disturbing statement on Twitter last week implying he was planning self-harm. Later, he clarified the situation, apologizing for the message and stating that he is not suicidal.
Kodak sent out a clarifying statement over Twitter to his fans confirming that he was OK, and didn’t plan to harm himself. But his initial message remained worrisome. Kodak wrote:
“So loney, sad and f*cked up… Nobody love me nobody cares….Im everywhere @ once… friends playing in my head… girls playing wit my heart, wish I can go back to the start I’ll never be famous.”
After initially being charged with rape after a 2016 incident with a minor in South Carolina, Kodak pled guilty to lesser charges in April of this year. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation. As if that wasn’t enough, the rapper and his producer Dyryk have also attempted to start a rivalry with Megan Thee Stallion, saying the “WAP” rapper has ghostwriters and hasn’t given Kodak due credit on the song.
