According to Page Six, a woman named Raven Barmer-Simmons claims to be the child of the late rapper, DMX. She is trying to get a piece of the $1 million estate.
DMX died in April of this year of a cocaine-induced heart attack. He had left no will behind, either.
On Friday (October 22), Judge Helen Blackwood appointed X’s three sons Tacoma, Xavier, and Sean Simmons as the temporary administrators of DMX’s estate. They are from his 16-year marriage to Tashera Simmons.
X’s fiancee, Desiree Lindstrom, who’s also the mother of 5-year-old Exodus, applied to the court to be legally declared his common-law wife. The judge, however, had declined her request. She also petitioned the court to be another administrator of the estate. X’s older daughters, Sasha Simmons and Jada Oden, are also trying to become administrators.
Raven Barmer-Simmons has been contacting X’s other children and claims she is DMX’s daughter. A DNA test still needs to be completed to determine her paternity.
“The next big thing is to determine who are the rightful heirs,” trusts and estates attorney Herbert Nass said. “The estate is going to ask everyone to prove paternity through DNA testing. All the legal children of DMX will be entitled to an equal share of his estate.”
DMX sold more than 74 million albums and built a successful career in both music and movies. However, he left behind an estate estimated to be in debt. Nass continued on to say, “We need to collect assets and pay debts and administration costs. We don’t have a lot of information about his income streams, but now the temporary administrators have been appointed, we can ask questions and expect answers.”
