Domino 90’s rap pioneer has reemerged for a moving tribute.

Domino Delivers His Finest in Tribute

There is no secret that Hip hop has lost a lot of its finest over the years. Some were lost to time, while others were taken much too soon. But, while their flames no longer burn on this earthly plane, their light is yet to be extinguished. So, Domino, who is known for his signature hip-hop style, felt it only fitting to polish his skills in tribute.

Why Now?

Why now is a legitimate question as any? There is never a need to provide a rationale to celebrate greatness. Domino keeps it transparent. Though his reasons were many, it was an act of congress that moved him. According to a source, the artist had this to say,

“If America’s politicians could recognize the importance, then hip-hop culture needs to do more to celebrate itself and its artists too.”

So, he practiced what is most often preached. He acted, and “4 U” was the result.

Domino’s Industry Impact

Domino gets a lot of cred for his contribution to hip hop. While many may not be aware, his presence and talent shaped the hip-hop landscape. According to a source, he was, in fact, instrumental in the success of Def Jam’s west coast division. As noted,

“Thanks to Domino’s influence and success, Def Jam’s West Coast Division ascended to new heights, leading to the signing and success of many other talents from the West Coast, such as Warren G and Montell Jordan, and later, newer artists like YG.”

And he is not only lauded by the industry but also by other legends. Some of hip hop’s most recognizable talents have sampled Domino’s music in their works. Truly his level of inspiration in the industry is undeniable.

Domino’s “4 U”

What is so rich about “4U”? It comes from the heart of an industry icon, but even more so, it memorializes hip hop and cultural contributors throughout time. Mentions include Eazy-E, 2Pac, Biggie, Mac Miller, Pop Smoke, Nate Dogg, DMX, Shock G, Lisa Left Eye, Nipsey Hussle, and Young Dolph. He pours out a lyrical toast to them all.

Celebrating Hip Hop giants

Some may not get it or understand the significance of this project. But no one could lay it out any clearer than Domino himself.

“4U” is my contribution to celebrating hip hop giants and talents that influenced the genre and the world with their genius and passion. If you don’t have an appreciation for at least one name mentioned in this song, then it’s safe to say that the hip-hop Culture is not a solid part of your within.

There is not much to disagree with. And indeed, no further explanation is needed. Those with a true passion for hip hop understand.

For all those who want to check out what Domino put down, 4u is now available for streaming on many platforms.
